Mom & Me One Archive: 2002-2003
The definitive, eccentric journal of an unlikely caregiver.
As of 1/18/04 this journal continues at The Mom & Me Journals dot Net.

7 minute Audio Introduction to The Mom & Me Journals

My purpose in establishing and maintaining this journal
is to undermine the isolation of the caregiving experience
by offering all, especially our loved ones, a window into our lives.
As I post to this journal I think of our loved ones and their families,
how busy and involved we all are, and that,
if and when they come to this site they can be assured
that they will miss nothing in our lives and will, thereby, recognize us
and relax easily into our arms and our routines
when we are again face to face.

To MFASRF: We're finally in Prescott.
It took us all of last week to get here (I made a round trip every day) including the final "move The Mom and The Girls" day. I have one more trip to make down to clean and close the other house completely for the season; except that, sometime around the first part of November, MCSs (the Colorado sister/brother-in-law) are coming out so MCBIL can survey our house down there and do some home repair stuff. I am so grateful this is going to happen. I continue to feel as though I am more and more overwhelmed by the duties involved in maintaining my mother's life (I'll bet you thought I was finally working into it...no such luck), and, finally, the rest of the family is sensing this. MFS will be here for 10 days, commencing September 1st. She and I are going to reassess and work on the yard up here, cutting back the wild brush and deweeding, etc., in order to make sure that when the next fire season comes around (which it surely will, since it looks as though the drought is continuing) our house is not overlooked by the firefighters as less amenable to saving.
